Saccharomyces boulardii reduces cholesterol
Anti-hypercholesterolemic effect of Saccharomyces boulardii in the hamster.
Relevant findings for future research
We explored the impact of Saccharomyces boulardii on high cholesterol levels in hamsters. The study involved two protocols: one preventive and one curative. In the preventive approach, the treatment reduced cholesterol by 14%, while the curative method achieved a 12% reduction. Additionally, S. boulardii cut down serum triglycerides by 39%. These promising results suggest that this probiotic could be a valuable ally in managing cholesterol, warranting further studies in humans.

Cholesterol reduction via probiotics
changes lipidemic profile and gut microbiota in a hamster hypercholesterolemic model.
Key findings in cholesterol treatment
We explored the effects of the probiotic CNCM I-745, also known as Saccharomyces boulardii, in hamsters with high cholesterol. Over 21 or 39 days, we administered daily doses that significantly reduced total plasma cholesterol levels and altered gut microbiota.

Notably, we found that changes in gut bacteria correlated with cholesterol levels. This study confirms the cholesterol-lowering benefits of Saccharomyces boulardii and highlights its potential impact on gut health, suggesting it could be a valuable option for treating high cholesterol in humans.

Saccharomyces boulardii shows promise
Effect of the Probiotic Saccharomyces boulardii on Cholesterol and Lipoprotein Particles in Hypercholesterolemic Adults: A Single-Arm, Open-Label Pilot Study.
Low sample size and scope.
Our exploration into the effects of Saccharomyces boulardii on cholesterol focused on a group of twelve individuals with high cholesterol. Over eight weeks, participants were given probiotic capsules twice a day.

We measured various cholesterol types and lipoprotein particles, aiming to see if S. boulardii could make a difference. While total cholesterol levels didn't show significant changes, we did notice a reduction in remnant lipoprotein, which is a promising indicator for heart health.

Although the study was small, it suggests that S. boulardii might play a role in managing cholesterol levels and heart disease risk.

Effective against pathogens
Excellent! This Travel probiotic is remarkable. Saccharomyces boulardii mushrooms boost the immune system by increasing antibody production and T cells to combat pathogens. They benefit not only during illness but also preventively, alleviating nausea and enhancing digestive enzyme activity. They’re effective against various harmful organisms, including rotavirus and E. coli. I recommend taking 1-2 capsules 2-3 times a day for optimal results, especially on an empty stomach. The capsules are of high quality and easy to swallow.

Flared up symptoms
This probiotic did not work for me. I had high hopes after extensive research on spore-based probiotics, as my gut health was improving. However, this caused my irritable bowel syndrome to flare again, leading me to stop using it.

Saccharomyces reduces cholesterol effectively
Nutraceuticals vs. antibiotic growth promoters: differential impacts on performance, meat quality, blood lipids, cecal microbiota, and organ histomorphology of broiler chicken.
Highly relevant to health findings
We aimed to compare the effects of nutraceuticals and antibiotic growth promoters on various health aspects of broiler chickens. Over 35 days, 320 one-day-old male chickens were grouped and fed different diets, including a probiotic mixed with Saccharomyces cerevisiae.

Our findings showed that the probiotic group notably reduced cholesterol and total lipids while enhancing beneficial bacteria in the gut. Improvements in weight gain and meat quality were also observed. Ultimately, using probiotics like Saccharomyces cerevisiae can be a promising alternative to traditional antibiotics in poultry diets.

Fermented fruits reduce cholesterol levels
Fermented Cerasus humilis fruits protect against high-fat diet induced hyperlipidemia which is associated with alteration of gut microbiota.
Moderate relevance for cholesterol treatment
We examined how fermented Cerasus humilis fruits, enhanced by Lactobacillus plantarum and Saccharomyces cerevisiae, can help lower high cholesterol levels.

These fermented fruits showed improved properties, such as higher nutrient content and lower sugar levels, compared to their non-fermented counterparts.

In our findings, fermentation effectively reduced cholesterol accumulation and improved gut microbiota. While treatment with these fruits significantly lowered weight gain and oxidative stress, the overall results indicate a promising, yet limited, effect on hyperlipidemia management.

Improved digestion
Effective and useful. After 1-2 weeks of using this probiotic, I noticed significant improvements. If it makes you feel unwell, it’s a sign it’s working as it displaces harmful bacteria. It cleanses the digestive tract rather than colonising it, thereby allowing beneficial flora to recover. Nausea is normal and temporary; when good bacteria outnumber the bad, it subsides. Start with a small dose of half a capsule daily to acclimatise your body, and then increase if tolerated. I experienced nausea initially, but it passed after two weeks, and the results were positive.

A must-have for those who suffer from constipation! I integrated it into a 21-day bowel cleansing programme, taking a tablet both morning and evening alongside probiotics, resulting in excellent bowel movements without issues. I wholeheartedly recommend this for anyone experiencing intestinal distress.
